About me

Hi, I’m Daniel de Zamacona. I grew up in Monterrey, Mexico, and picked up a tennis racquet for the first time when I was four. From an early age, I was lucky to be coached by a world class team including personal trainers, psychologists, and coaches who had been Davis Cup Players and even a Wimbledon Champion.

Off to a strong start, I became a a four-time National Champion and earned a bronze medal at the National Olympics. I reached a national ranking of #2 before moving to the U.S., where I continued competing and growing. I climbed to the top of the Missouri Valley rankings and played college tennis at JCCC and UMKC, where I was honored as “Rookie of the Year,” “Most Valuable Player,” and “Academic of the Year,” with national ITA rankings of #6 in singles and #10 in doubles. In 2021, my USTA Men’s Open League team went 33-0, and I currently hold a 6.0C USTA rating.

I started coaching when I was in college. And over the course of my career, i’ve continued to explore my interests. I became certified as a tennis coach through the USPTA, then as a personal trainer through NASM, then as a life coach through CTA, and then as a Reiki I & II practitioner. Most of what i am and what i know i have learned through trial and error and experimentation in my life. I don’t consider myself a tennis coach or life coach or any of the things that i’ve studied as that feels quite limiting to me. I see myself as someone who is always expanding their capacity to help

Some of my happy places - playing sports, playing music, reflecting, traveling, learning something that completely changes the way i view myself or the world.
